Black Birds Finding Home – A Reflection on Our World

From the quiet window sill to the frontlines of history.

Black Birds Finding Home is an album born from the tension between the peaceful life we cherish and the turbulent world we inhabit.

The journey begins exactly where the songs were conceived: at the window sill. In the opening track, "Morning’s Gentle Tide", we see the day come to life as the yachts rest in the harbor and the morning mist clears. But as the news of "Bloodrain" breaks through the tranquility, the reflection begins. The black birds take flight from the windowsill, carrying our thoughts across borders and into the lives of others.

The album serves as a travelogue of empathy, moving through:

• The Personal and the Picturesque: From the intimate, gourmet moments on the 27-foot motorboat 'Mary' in the Greenlandic fjords ("Gourmet Turquoise") to the spiritual ascent of "Mount Gold", where we climb above the noise to find a sacred space.

• The Global and the Urgent: We follow the "Freedom Train" of displacement and look into the "silent cries" in the eyes of the oppressed in "In Your Eyes". We feel the heartbeat of a mother's love in the refugee camps of "Shatila Mothers Love" and the universal longing for freedom in "From the River to the Sea".

• The Path to Healing: At the core of the album is "Fields of Hope"—a song of reconstruction and resilience. It is a tribute to the strength it takes to rebuild a home from the ashes, stone by stone, giving a voice to the hope of Gaza and beyond.

As the sun sets, the journey comes full circle in the title track, "Black Birds Finding Home". Like the birds returning to their nests at dusk, the album concludes with the realization that despite our different paths and struggles, we are all searching for the same safe harbor. It is a solemn and hopeful tribute to the fallen and the brave, ending in a "Song for the Fallen" where only strings and soul remain.
